19 June 2020 - Executive Council approves lifting of travel restrictions

Executive Council has today approved the lifting of travel restrictions between MPC and Stanley, in recognition of the present COVID-19 situation in the Falkland Islands. Restrictions relating to MPC personnel or those having visited MPC will also be lifted in respect of FIGAS and Workboat Services.

17 June 2020 - COVID-19 Public Update

Results continue to be negative for COVID-19 in swabs being tested by KEMH. To date, 413 swabs have been tested with the hospital’s PCR analyser. A further 426 swabs were processed earlier in the UK. There have been 13 positive COVID-19 results in the Falklands but all those affected have recovered or ended their isolation period.

29 May 2020 - COVID-19 Public Update

There are no current COVID-19 cases on the Falkland Islands but health services are thinking ahead to what might be needed if there was a large outbreak. Chief Medical Officer Dr Rebecca Edwards says with testing able to be done in the Falklands, it is likely cases will be detected earlier and responded to faster.

A further batch of 10 tests processed by KEMH have all come back negative for COVID-19. Since last week the hospital has been testing swabs locally with its new PCR analyser. To date 77 swabs have been processed locally, all negative. A further 426 swabs were processed earlier in the UK.

A further batch of tests processed by KEMH have all come back negative for COVID-19. This week the hospital has begun testing of swabs locally with its new PCR analyser, and there is no need to now send swabs to the UK for processing. A further 21 swabs were done in the latest batch.

18 May 2020 - COVID-19 Public Update

The latest test results received by KEMH are all negative for COVID-19. The batch of 24 swabs were processed in the UK as part of the hospital's regular monitoring for the virus. So far 426 tests have been carried out in the UK but as we’re about to update you, future testing will now be able to be done in the Falkland Islands.
