Born Brinkworth, Wiltshire, England.

Educated at Brinkworth Primary Schol and Malmesbury Grammer School.

Joined Royal Marines January 1963 serving in Aden (Radfan) April 1964 until April 1965. September 1965 entered Britannia Royal Naval College as an Air Cadet. Trained to fly by RAF at Linton on Ouse and later at RNAS Brawdy before going on to RNAS Lossiemouth. Continued to serve in Royal Navy until July 1986.

Met Norma, a Falkland Islander in England in 1968, married 4th April 1970. Two daughters Emma (now Geography teacher at Falkland Islands Community School) and Rebecca (now a GP at KEMH Stanley).

First came to the Falkland Islands in 1973 on HMS Endurance. In 1982 was attached to D Squadron 22 SAS Regiment as RNLO taking part in retaking of South Georgia, Pebble Island raid, Goose Green, Mount Kent and Beagle Ridge. Returned to serve in Headquarters BFFI in Stanley January 1983 until June 1986.

Purchased Lake Sulivan Farm, Fox Bay West, September 1986 until present.

First elected to Council in 2001 – 2005, re-elected 2009 – 2013 and again in 2013.
